Neste momento estou a ler "No Reino de Glome" escrito por C. S. Lewis, o mesmo autor de "As Crónicas de Nárnia".

Orual é a filha mais velha de um rei severo de um reino pequeno (Glome). Ela foi educada por um escravo grego que lhe ensinou tudo... O pai disse ao escravo para a ensinar pois a beleza dela não a ajudaria na sua vida (ela era feia!)... É interessante ver como os deuses e as superstições podem influenciar a vida das pessoas e justificar os seus actos...

Orual is the oldest daughter from a severe king of a small kingdom (Glome). She was raised by a Greek slave who taught her everything... Her father told the slave to teach her because her beauty wouldn't help her in life (she was ugly!)... It's interesting to see how gods and superstitions can influence people's lives and justify their actions...

Jonathan Strange é um mágico jovem e quer usar a magia para ajudar e o Sr. Norrell é um cavalheiro de mais idade que acha que a magia deve ser apenas estudada... o que adorei mais foi uma parte em que Jonathan Strange vem a Portugal ajudar os ingleses na luta contra as invasões francesas... afinal o que aprendi na escola está errado... hehehehehe... tem partes hilariantes... se não gostarem de ser o centro das atenções não leiam em público pois vai haver alturas em que se vão rir ou sorrir...
espero que gostem...

LOVED this book... the story is in the 19th century when people thought that there wasn't any magic in England anymore... Jonathan Strange is a wizard and wants to use magic to help and Mr Norrell, a more aged gentleman, thinks that magic is only there to be studied... the part I loved more was when Jonathan Strange comes to Portugal to help the English against the French invasions... it seems that what I learned in school is wrong... hehehehehe... it has hilarious parts... if you don't like being the centre of attention, don't read it in a public place because there are parts that you will laugh or smile...
hope you like it...

Além do título e da capa me ter atraído, foi a pergunta na capa que me convenceu a comprar o livro: "Se soubesse que um livro está amaldiçoado, abria-o?" Eu pensei logo "É CLAAAAARO que SIM!"...

É sobre uma rapariga que está a fazer um trabalho de pesquisa na universidade sobre um autor e descobre que um dos seus livros está amaldiçoado: quem lê aquele livro morre pouco tempo depois... não conto mais... agora é a vossa vez de descobrir o porquê... :)

The title and the cover caught my eye, but it was the question on the cover that convinced me to buy the book: "If you knew that a book is cursed, would you open it?" My thoughts were "of COOOOOURSE I WOOOOULD!"...

It's about a girl making a research work in the university about an author and finds out that one of his books is cursed: the one who reads the book dies... and won't tell anymore... now it's your turn to know why... :)

Já não lia um policial há muito tempo e tão bem conseguido. Bem escrito, viciante e surpreendente! Já tenho os outros dois livros que deste mesmo autor que inclui as mesmas personagens. Cada caso é resolvido em cada livro mas nós vamos acompanhando as vidas das personagens principais que a mim me parecem bem reais... Em inglês o título é "A rapariga da tatuagem de dragão" pois uma das personagens que acompanhamos ao longo da obra e das outras seguintes tem uma tatuagem de dragão e mais não digo...
O autor era para escrever uma colecção de 10 livros mas faleceu após o terceiro volume e nem teve a oportunidade de saber o sucesso que fez... eu fiquei fã...
Sei que fizeram o filme no país de origem de Larsson, Suécia, e que estão a pensar em fazer a versão Hollywood do mesmo (ou já fizeram? corrijam-me)... não sei se vou ver... já tenho as imagens das personagens na minha mente e nem sempre os filmes correspondem à minha imaginação...

The original title is "Men who hate women" just like in Portuguese. The reason for this English title is that one of the main character in this book (and the following books) has a Dragon tattoo.
I haven't read such a good crime fiction book for a long time. So well written, addictive and surprising! I have already bought the other two books by the same author with the same main characters. Each case is solved in each book but you follow the main character's lives who seem so real to me.
The author was going to write a collection of 10 books but he passed away after the 3rd volume and he didn't have the opportunity to know the huge success his books are... I'm a fan.
I know that they made the film in Larsson's country, Sweden, and that Hollywood will be make its version (or is it already done? correct me)... I don't know if I want to watch it... I have my own pictures of the characters in my mind... sometimes the films don't correspond to my imagination...
Do you like crime fiction? Read it...

este livro é sobre uma rapariga chamada Doménica. deram-lhe este nome porque foi encontrada por uma família num domingo. ela é uma rapariga com poderes mágicos, nunca fica num lugar durante muito tempo e está sempre disposta a ajudar...
eu tinha lido este livro há muito tempo e não tinha gostado... foi uma desilusão para mim pois Ballester é um dos meus autores favoritos.
o livro foi publicado depois da sua morte e tive muita pena quando ele morreu... o meu único pensamento foi: “depois de ler todos os seus livros, não haverão livros novos escritos por ele...” bem, uma coisa é certa, não li todos os seus livros, comprei a maior parte deles mas estão na estante à espera da sua vez (preciso de uma espécie de periodo de luto depois de ler cada um deles)...

Conheci um rapaz que uma vez me disse: “com tantos livros no mundo, porquê perder tempo com livros que já leste?”... muito simples: eu descubro sempre coisas novas quando releio um livro, uma passagem ou uma tira; ou volto a sentir o que senti quando o li; ou descubro que o livro afinal não foi uma perda de tempo como pensei quando o li da pimeira vez... e foi isto que senti depois de ler “Doménica” de novo... Agora gosto do livro!

I had read this book a long time ago and didn’t like it… it was a disappointment for me as Ballester is one of my favourite authors.
this book was published after his death and I was so sorry when he died… my only thought was: “after reading all his books, there will be no more new books written by him…” well, one thing is for sure, I haven’t read all his books, I bought most of them but they are waiting in the shelf for their turn (I need sort of a mourning period after reading each of them)…

I knew a guy who once that told me: “with so many books in the world, why wasting time with books you’ve already read?”… very simple: I always discover something new when I reread a book, a passage or a stripe; or I revisit feelings I had when I read it; or I find out that the book wasn’t a waste of time as I thought it was when I read it for the first time… and this is what I felt after reading “Doménica” again… I like the book now!

Adoro o final!

- it may seem a too serious book but it is very easy to read (took me 2 hours; Amélie Nothomb writes the essential) and has funny parts in it!
Love the ending!
- I think I’ll buy another book by this author…

A primeira vez que estabeleci contacto com Calvin e Hobbes foi no supermercado... tinha muito tempo e decidi ir à secção dos livros. depois de ler algumas tiras, as pessoas estavam a olhar para mim porque estava a rir sozinha com um livro entre mãos... não comprei o livro naquele dia... alguns dias mais tarde, fiz exactamente o mesmo mas desta vez trouxe comigo o livro para casa. e agora tenho a colecção quase completa, não toda porque alguns são tiras selecionadas (exemplo: apenas tiras de Domingo) e não estou interessada pois já as tenho nos meus livros.
Nunca me canso de ler Calvin e Hobbes...

The first time I established contact with Calvin and Hobbes was in a supermarket… I had plenty of time and decided to go to the books section. after reading some stripes, people were looking at me because I was laughing there alone with a book in my hands… didn’t buy the book that day… some days later, I made the exact same thing but this time the book came home with me. and now I’ve got almost all the books from the collection, not all because some are about selected stripes (example: only Sunday stripes…) and I’m not interested as I have them in my books.
I never get tired of reading Calvin and Hobbes…

Sempre gostei ver os desenhos animados da Alice e até cheguei a ler um livro de banda desenhada com as suas aventuras mas nunca tinha lido o livro original.
Posso dizer que gosto mais do livro do que das animações ou da banda desenhada? Não, não posso... eu gosto do original e das suas ilustrações tanto como as outras versões... uma coisa é certa, o livro deve ser lido em voz alta... é divertido, fácil de ler e pefeito para uma boa noite de sono e bons sonhos...

Can I say that I like more the book than the cartoons or the comic book? No, I can’t… I like the original and its illustrations as much as I like the other versions… one thing is for sure, the book should be read aloud… it’s funny, easy to read and perfect for a good night sleep and good dreams…

Acabei de ler Titus o herdeiro de Gormenghast
- não se consegue exactamente odiar ou adorar uma personagem... todos eles têm lados bons e maus... pode-se pensar que algumas personagens são egoístas por fazerem o que fazem mas nós entendemo-los... às vezes somos surpreendidos por uma acção de súbita gentileza e começamos a gostar delas mas mais tarde voltamos a reprovar os seus pensamnetos e planos e egoísmos...
- os capítulos são pequenos e acabava sempre por dizer “eu páro no final deste...” quase impossível... acontecem tantas coisas que mudam as vidas em Gormenghast...
- e de novo: óptimas descrições! Adoraria visitr este lugar imaginário

já traduziram o livro seguinte? está publicado? espero que sim!!! tenho que ir à livraria...

Finished reading Titus Groan.
- you can’t exactly hate or love a character... they all have good and bad sides… you may think that some characters are selfish by doing what they do but you understand them… and sometimes you are surprised by a sudden gentle deed and you start to like them but later you disapprove their thoughts and plans and selfishness again…
- the chapters are small and you keep saying to yourself “I’ll stop at the end of this one…” almost impossible… so many things happen that change the lives in Gormenghast…
- and again: great descriptions! I would love to visit this imaginary place…

have they already translated the next book? is it published? hope so!!! must go to the bookshop…
